Two newly tenured faculty at ID

The Institute of Design is happy to congratulate two of our full-time faculty, Kim Erwin and Laura Forlano, for getting tenure and being promoted from assistant to associate professors. Tenure is awarded to recognize significant accomplishments in scholarship and teaching and for excellence and substantial contributions to the institution, the field, and the public.

Laura researches emergent forms of organizing and urbanism enabled by mobile, wireless and ubiquitous computing technologies with an emphasis on the socio-technical practices and spaces of innovation. She has published and spoken widely on designing policy.

Kim is author of the book Communicating the New: Methods to shape and accelerate innovation. She is well recognized for her research targeting communication methods for collaborative knowledge construction and stakeholder engagement, particularly in healthcare.
