After ID, Knowl Baek joined Philips Healthcare as a service and interaction Designer. In the Pittsburgh office, her focus is on home health, and more specifically in sleep and respiratory care. Knowl is designing integrated solutions to help people with chronic conditions such as sleep apnea and COPD to sleep and breathe better. She strives to improve the therapy experience, whether it be developing medical grade devices and interfaces patients use, creating services that support various stakeholders in care network, or thinking about behavior change to motivate patients in adopting and maintaining broader wellness. Part of the job of a designer is to be an advocate for people centered design and to drive an organization-wide shift from product-led mindset to experience-led process. She believes such complex context is where ID graduates can bring the most value and look forward to seeing everyone apply what we take away in industries that are ripe for change.
