Walter Nathan is chairman of RTC, a private company he founded in 1950, that is now a global leader in in-store merchandising and researching and devises methods, displays, signage, and special equipment for chain retailers and major brand producers.

Walter was born in Germany, received a BSME from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1944, and spent three years in the US Navy. Both he and his wife Ann have lived in Chicago for over 75 years, a city he considers an excellent home. Ann is the owner of Ann Nathan Gallery in River North.

His son Richard is now CEO of RTC, and Walter is mostly retired from day-to-day operations. Walter is a trustee of IIT and a member of the boards of the IIT Institute of Design, American Jewish Committee, and The Chicago Lighthouse. He is researching and writing about the genealogy of his family, which now includes 4 married children and 14 grandchildren.
