Recently a lot of attention is being given to the idea of "Smart Cities" prompted by massively growing trends in urban migration and pervasive technologies. With what we know and do as designers, how can we contribute to this idea of building tomorrow's smart cities? What are some of the mindsets needed? IIT Institute of Design professor Vijay Kumar will share some of his perspectives, particularly based on his recent experiences with government innovations. Presentation will be followed by Q&A and refreshments.
About Vijay
Vijay Kumar is a professor at the IIT Institute of Design and author of the book 101 Design Methods: A Structured Approach for Driving Innovation in Your Organization. With over 30 years of global work experience, Vijay has taught, published, lectured, and consulted throughout the world about how to use structured methods, tools, and frameworks for conceiving reliable human-centered innovations and turning them into strategic plans for organizations. His research is focused on framing up emerging innovation opportunities in education, health care, communication, retail, social reform, and emerging markets among others.
