Online Reverb: Dignity and Digital Humanism

Why do we care even when we don't? Kristen Taylor will explore the ways we are connected to each other online through tiny actions, whether to big companies or small groups. Pulled from close to a decade of work with global broadcasters and private event curators, she will share community patterns that emerge as people respond to each other as well as the larger group narrative. The discussion will center on subtle interventions that make the difference in creating an online space that becomes a strong, flexible whole.

About Kristen

Kristen Taylor was most recently senior producer with Al Jazeera’s top weekly documentary program, Fault Lines, and has led teams at BBC America, PBS, the Huffington Post, PopTech, and the Knight Foundation, as well as consulting for clients including Foursquare, Global Voices, BBC, and Facebook. She is the founder and editor of Saucy Magazine and teaches online community design at NYU’s graduate ITP.

Kristen will speak as part of "In the Loop", a lecture series on design, innovation and entrepreneurship organized by IIT Institute of Design faculty. The series engages a wide range of speakers that present on topics ranging from theoretical research and emerging methodologies that are relevant to the field of design as well as personal narratives and examples from current design practice.
