Responsiveness in Design

December 3, 2013
6:00-8:00pm CST
IIT Institute of Design, 6th floor

A discussion of reflection and reaction in a time of uncertainty

Embedded technologies, open platforms, and flexible supply networks are creating a decision making environment that requires less time and capital investment than the recent past. In part, the field of design was born to help 20th century companies predict and envision what people want in order to reduce the risk of long term massive investments. What happens when prediction is more difficult and things, environments, services and information respond to people's desires?

Across industries, it is increasingly necessary for leaders to create products, services, and experiences that can respond to constant change, rather than try and predict target future states. Conversely, constant knee-jerk reactions to immediate demands can obscure deeper understanding and questioning that are required for innovative and richer experiences.

On December 3rd at 6p, join IIT Institute of Design for a panel discussion on responsive design planning featuring dean of IIT Institute of Design, Patrick Whitney and ID alumni.

IIT Institute of Design, ranked by Design Intelligence as the number one most admired graduate design program, prepares its students for the future and how design can flourish in times of uncertainty. Alumni and faculty members are thought leaders in their fields carving out the future of healthcare, education, and the global economy.
