Through our graduate design programs, IIT Institute of Design (ID) is preparing the next generation of professional designers to be strategic thinkers who can facilitate and lead change. In the same way, our executive education programs immerse your leadership in current design methods and tools that create new value and inspire positive change. From signature events to customized training programs, our executive education offerings will activate design-led innovation in your organization.
Each year ID hosts Design Camp, a four-day introductory immersion into the design process. Professionals from corporations and not-for-profit institutions from around the world attend, and no formal design training or experience is required.
- Using a real-world challenge facing a Chicago area non-profit, campers work towards a possible solution.
- Campers enjoy hands-on experience with advanced methods and tools in the design process, all taught by our world-class faculty.
- Evening events, networking, and studio tours round out this immersive design experience in the beautiful city of Chicago.
Past challenges include: developing the user experience design for a park district sailing program for the disabled, creating opportunities for deeper engagement for a senior citizen center, and prototyping a safer, community-driven experience for Chicago’s 606 trail.
Attendees include executives from Advocate Healthcare, Bosch, Carhartt, Intuit, Logitech, Milwaukee Tool, New Balance, Northwestern Mutual, Salesforce, Steelcase, Year Up, and many others.
In a few short days, ID’s Design Camp was able to deliver a vocabulary, structure, and proven techniques to manage the creative process; these techniques cut across all functions of an organization.”- John Stoop, Founder of The Revival
ID also develops custom programming to support the design-led innovation in a range of organizations. We’ve worked with companies, government agencies, and nonprofits to achieve leadership buy-in, train design thinkers and leaders, and coach concept development and design activation.
