Former visiting scholar at ID
ID is sorry to share the news that Zhabiz Shafieyoun, a visiting scholar at ID from September 2014 to June 2017, has passed away. As a PhD student at Politecnico di Milano at that time, she was working with ID faculty member Keiichi Sato on the design of the waiting room experience.
The ID community is invited to celebrate Zhabiz's life in a tree planting ceremony in downtown Chicago, her favorite city:

Zhabiz later worked with former ID faculty member Stan Ruecker on his book, Prototyping Across the Disciplines: Designing Better Futures. Zhabiz and her partner Gerry Derksen authored the chapter, "How Industrial Prototypes Behave through Structure, Function, and Material," building on the previous work of John Gero and his Function, Behavior, Structure ontology, which which was originally intended for architecture but has also been applied widely in design.
