Industry Experience

Michael’s experience spans over 30 years across multiple industry sectors and government agencies, with a primary focus in healthcare and life sciences. Currently, he is a senior partner with EY-Parthenon consulting where he works with clients on a broad range of disruptive business model strategies, go-to-market and launch strategies, and complex operating model transformations at the intersection of customer needs and technology possibilities. Most recently, Michael has been focused on digital health and wellness, digital therapeutics (DTx), home health and remote care modalities, population health, and health equity strategies to address the social determinants of health (SDOH).

Prior to EY-Parthenon, Michael was Vice President of Strategy & Global Marketing at CareFusion, a global medical device and technology company where he focused on designing and implementing cross-business, “horizontal” innovations integrating product, process, platform and data to improve patient safety and reduce preventable harm. Michael joined CareFusion from its parent company Cardinal Health, a Fortune 20 medical products manufacturer and pharmaceutical distributor, where he led efforts to break down organizational silos and build a culture and capabilities for innovation across the organization. Michael was also a Principal at Strategos, a design strategy and innovation consulting boutique founded by Professor Gary Hamel to design and commercialize new-to-the-world product ideas and business model concepts while building the culture, skills, and infrastructure for ongoing innovation within client organizations.

Michael works with C-level and senior executives across the commercial and public-sector healthcare ecosystem to define and operationalize game-changing growth strategies; to design and launch disruptive new products, services, and business model innovations; and to transform enterprise-level organization structures and operating models to compete for the future. He has led the design and launch of more than 10 new-to-the-world business model innovations that have generated over $2 billion in incremental revenue for his clients.

Speaking and Publishing

Michael is a published author and frequent speaker on the topic of successfully designing, launching, and scaling disruptive business model innovations. His work has been featured at innovation conferences and panel discussions seeking to separate innovation rhetoric from reality.
