To premiere ID’s Action Lab Perspectives series, artist Carolina Caycedo presents her approach to artmaking and its relevance to design and changemaking, followed by a conversation and Q+A with Action Lab director Carlos Teixeira and ID student Caro Silva. With a focus on decolonization, sustainability, and justice, Carolina uses facilitation and participatory processes to reveal the effects of legacy structures and systems in determining our reality, and demonstrates how we can leverage networks and relationships to build more responsible and cooperative futures. Caycedo’s exhibition, From the Bottom of the River, is at the MCA Chicago until August 8.
This event is produced in partnership with the MCA Chicago.
About the Action Lab Perspectives Series
As experts from diverse traditions, Action Lab speakers present different ways of knowing and understanding contemporary issues. These perspectives contribute to producing the new, actionable knowledge coming out of ID's Action Lab.
About the Action Lab
Leveraging ID's expertise in systems design and human-centered design, the Action Lab undertakes a specific challenge (e.g., sustainable development, equitable healthcare, just policymaking) and creates a consortium that works cooperatively to produce new, actionable knowledge to address that challenge. By bringing communities, stakeholders, and experts together, we synthesize shared value solutions to maximize collective action and acceptance.
