Community Engagement & Institutional Transformation

By Flora Massah

May 10, 2024

A visual model of the Carnegie community engagement classification criteria

Applications for the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement involve a long-term commitment that requires dedicated participation across the institution. When applying for the first time, institutions may find the long application document intimidating, while others may start the process but then struggle to follow through. This model intends to provide a high-level and more easily digestible overview of the application content, highlighting the essential elements of the criteria framework. The model also serves as a guide for institutions undergoing the documentation process and a road map for reflecting on their progress through visual reminders of the key areas for institutional transformation.
