Ruben Ocampo

Ruben Ocampo

Ruben Ocampo serves as an Adjunct Faculty instructor at the Institute of Design (ID), where he teaches a course titled Engaging Stakeholders in Innovation. A professor and keynote speaker in the United States and abroad, Ruben’s engaging approach combines creative and analytical ways of creating and interpreting shared meaning.

He has a bachelor’s degree  in industrial design from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and a master of business administration degree from the Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago, as well as a Master of Design from ID.

Industry Experience

Ruben is the founder of Conic Group, a Chicago-based innovation consulting firm. He is a thought leader in the areas of innovation strategy, strategic facilitation, and human centered design. Applying Conic’s humanizing innovation approach, Ruben helps leaders imagine and enact visionary change through a purpose-driven dialogue with their end customers and workforce.

Ruben’s previous work experience spans three continents and includes roles such as design manager at McDonald’s Corporation, leader of the user-based design practice at Second Road in Sydney, and manager of customer experience at PwC Chicago. He has worked with large clients across several sectors, including banking and financial services, manufacturing, logistics, government, infrastructure, workspace solutions, hospitality in the areas of organizational strategy, innovation management and stakeholder engagement.
